Fire on Turkish children’s tour boat forces evacuation of over 100 passengers

A fire engulfed the “Toys Boat,” a children’s entertainment tour vessel operating off south-western Turkey, on August 13 while it was near the popular resort town of Fethiye. Authorities said the boat was carrying 115 passengers and crew, most of whom were families on a day-trip. Turkish coastguard teams rescued everyone, bringing them safely to shore, and the Turkish maritime affairs directorate reported that eleven people required hospital treatment for smoke inhalation, none of them in serious condition.
The operator posted on Facebook that both customers and staff were unharmed. Photographs circulated in Turkish media showed the boat completely gutted by flames. The incident highlights safety concerns for tourist-focused marine attractions in the region.
