Fire Rages at Rostov-on-Don Oil Terminal After Suspected Ukrainian Drone Strike

A blaze at a Rostov-on-Don oil terminal entered its third day on Monday, following a reported Ukrainian drone attack that ignited several fuel tanks.

A fire at an oil terminal in Rostov-on-Don continued to burn for a third consecutive day after a weekend drone strike that Ukrainian sources attribute to Kyiv. Video from Astra and Exilenova+ displayed flames and dense smoke emanating from the facility, which belongs to the Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery and holds up to 60,000 cubic meters of fuel. Monitoring channel Supernova indicated that seven of the terminal's twelve storage tanks were ablaze, though independent confirmation is lacking.

Rostov region Governor Yury Slyusar said air defenses downed more than 100 drones and that six individuals were injured, but he omitted any mention of the terminal's condition. Satellite data from NASA’s FIRMS detected the fire, and the site is used to load petroleum onto sea and river tankers, reportedly supporting Russian military operations. Additional infrastructure damage included a railway drawbridge between Rostov-on-Don and Bataysk, causing train delays, and two vessels damaged in the nearby city of Azov.
