First batch of September Social Security checks will be mailed in three days
Social Security will send the first round of September benefits on Wednesday, Sept. 9, to retirees born on or before the 10th of each month.
The Social Security Administration announced that the first tranche of September retirement benefits will be dispatched on Wednesday, Sept. 9 to those born on or before the 10th of the month, with amounts up to $5,181. Subsequent payments are set for Sept. 16 for birth dates between the 11th and 20th, and Sept. 23 for those born on or after the 21st. Retirees become eligible at age 62, and monthly checks depend on factors such as retirement age and lifetime contributions, ranging from $2,969 for a 62-year-old to $5,181 for a 70-year-old.
Beneficiaries can estimate their payments using the SSA’s online calculator. The system is financed through payroll taxes from workers and employers, and trustees warn that the trust fund could be depleted by 2032 without legislative action.
