First Resources vows full cooperation as it contests haze fire accusations
First Resources said it will cooperate fully with authorities and is confident an objective review will prove it does not clear land by fire amid recent haze allegations.
First Resources issued a statement asserting confidence that an impartial review will demonstrate the company does not engage in land clearing by fire, and pledged full cooperation with any investigations. The group reiterated its strict zero-burning policy in a regulatory filing dated Oct 20, inviting evidence-based scrutiny of the haze issue. This comes after Singapore's National Environment Agency invoked the Transboundary Haze Pollution Act against ten Indonesian forestry and agriculture companies, demanding preventive action plans.
Greenpeace has separately tied First Resources to Indonesian plantation areas where fires and smoke were detected. The company called for assessments based on verified facts and scientific data, and welcomed on-the-ground verification to provide context. It also expressed openness to constructive suggestions from regulators, industry peers, investors and civil-society groups, while its shares rose 3.4% to S$3.93.
Why it matters
