Five accused of importing 850kg of cocaine face trial in WA Supreme Court

Five defendants charged with attempting to import about 850 kg of cocaine seized from the MV St Pinot near Rottnest Island have begun trial in the WA Supreme Court.

The trial involves five individuals charged with trying to bring nearly 850 kg of cocaine into Western Australia after the drug was intercepted from the vessel MV St Pinot off Rottnest Island. Proceedings are being held in the WA Supreme Court and will require two interpreters. The case is expected to last more than ten weeks.
