Five dead after Eeco van crashes head-on with truck on NH-15 in Sonitpur

Late Friday night, a Maruti Suzuki Eeco van collided head-on with a truck on National Highway 15 near Balipara in Sonitpur district, Assam, resulting in five fatalities. The van was carrying passengers from Tezpur to Rangapara when it allegedly crossed the centre line and hit the oncoming truck, whose driver has not yet been located. Police arrived at the scene around 11:30 pm and found five critically injured men, all residents of Batabari.
Two victims were declared dead on arrival at a nearby government hospital, and three more died during treatment. The bodies were transferred to Sonitpur Civil Hospital for post-mortem examinations, and both vehicles have been taken into police custody while investigators probe the incident.
