Five dead and eighteen injured in Chicago shootings over Labor Day weekend

Chicago police reported five fatalities and eighteen injuries from multiple shootings across the city during the Labor Day weekend.

Over the Labor Day weekend, Chicago experienced a series of gun attacks that left five people dead and eighteen injured, according to police data. The violence began Friday evening with an argument in Chicago Lawn that ended in the fatal shooting of Josh Washington, 28. Early Saturday, two assailants killed Enderson Linares, 29, in West Englewood, while a woman was later found dead after being shot in a Near West Side residence.

Sunday saw the fatal shooting of Jerome Kirk, 20, in the Austin neighborhood and another unidentified man in Logan Square near Kosciuszko Park. In addition to the shootings, a stabbing on Friday night caused one injury. The weekend's toll was lower than the previous Labor Day weekend, which saw nine deaths and 52 injuries.
