Five Dead in Utah Apartment After Carbon Monoxide Alarms Prompt Neighbor Intervention
Five people were found dead in a Richmond, Utah apartment after neighbors heard carbon-monoxide alarms and entered the unit, while another adult was hospitalized for possible exposure.
Neighbors on Main Street heard carbon-monoxide detectors sounding for an extended period and entered a triplex on the 300 block. Deputies discovered a 43-year-old man in the garage and four children - two boys aged 16 and 11 and two girls aged 12 and 5 - deceased throughout the apartment. The adjoining units were evacuated, and a second adult was taken to a hospital for suspected carbon-monoxide poisoning. Sheriff Chad Jensen said the cause remains under investigation.
