Five Indianapolis officers charged with fraud for misusing license-plate reader system
An Indiana county prosecutor has filed fraud and misconduct charges against five current and former Indianapolis police officers for abusing the department’s Flock Safety license-plate readers.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department disclosed that an internal audit revealed five officers had improperly used its automated license-plate reading technology. Following the audit, the officers lost access to the system and the department’s chief, Tanya Terry, suspended them. Four officers face recommended termination, while one has already resigned. The charges were brought by a county prosecutor in Indiana.
