Five kidnappers sentenced after victim escaped by leaping from window
A man kidnapped in Market Rasen fled by jumping from a first-floor window, leading to the conviction and imprisonment of five perpetrators at Lincoln Crown Court.
Police say the man was drawn to a Market Rasen residence over personal matters linked to a past relationship breakdown and was repeatedly assaulted, threatened and humiliated by his captors, who recorded the abuse on their phones. After being held overnight, he was driven to Lincoln, where CCTV captured him leaping from a first-floor window, climbing a tree and running to a passing police car. Armed officers stopped two of the kidnappers in a vehicle, while the others were taken into custody at the Market Rasen property.
At Lincoln Crown Court on 28 August, Brad'Lee Ranyard and Jackson Nicholson each received nine-year sentences, Craig Ranyard was jailed for five years and three months, Danielle Thompson for four years and nine months, and Nathan Gladwell for three years and seven months. Detective Liam Henderson described the ordeal as a sustained, deeply distressing episode of violence and humiliation.
