Five men charged with kidnapping Oslo lawyer, binding him in bathroom and stealing luxury items

A court filing in Oslo details that five men face charges for a coordinated home invasion targeting a lawyer on the night of 24 April 2024. Three of the accused broke into the victim's downtown apartment shortly after 01:00, threatened him with a knife, a utility knife and scissors, and bound his hands with rope before locking him inside the bathroom for over six hours. While the lawyer was restrained, the intruders took two Rolex watches, an iPhone 15, a PlayStation controller, 2,500 kroner and 1,000 euros in cash.

The prosecutor, Andreas Schei, called the robbery brutal and meticulously planned, emphasizing the use of dangerous weapons and the high value of the stolen items. Two of the men are alleged to have helped plan the operation, selecting the target and handling the sale of the loot. Several of the accused have previous criminal convictions. The victim's counsel, Rolf Jacob Cappelen, says his client wishes to keep a low profile and has not pursued compensation claims.
