Five protestors detained, prosecutors request 30-day preventive custody after Bucharest farmer clash
Five men involved in the farmer protest at Piața Victoriei were brought before the Sector 1 Court, where prosecutors asked for a 30-day preventive arrest.
During a farmer protest in Bucharest’s Piața Victoriei, confrontations with gendarmes led to the detention of five men: Ștefan Ciprian Pamfile, Gabriel Fugel, Viorel Cristian Voinea, Ionuț Nancu and Ciprian Ciucur. They appeared before the Judecătoria Sectorului 1, where prosecutors from the Parchetul de pe lângă Tribunalul București sought a 30-day preventive arrest. The court scheduled the hearing for the night, and the defendants were provided with court-appointed lawyers who declined to comment on the charges.
The protest had resulted in 47 people being taken to police stations, ten gendarmes injured and four hospitalized, and two police vehicles damaged. In the same evening, prosecutors also brought three more individuals to the same court for further questioning.
