Five senior pupils arrested for assaulting two younger students at Rompin hostel

Two Form Two students were beaten by five older classmates at a Rompin hostel after one missed a religious class, police said.

On Sept 12, around midnight, five senior students—three from Form Five and two from Form Four—entered a hostel room in Rompin and assaulted two Form Two pupils. Authorities said the attack stemmed from one victim’s absence from a religious class and the other’s supposed involvement. The victims suffered injuries to their arms and torso, prompting their parents to lodge police reports on Sept 17.

Deputy Superintendent Mohamad Zamri Mohamad Zaber confirmed the arrests of all five suspects, who were later released on police bail. The case is being pursued under Section 147 of the Penal Code, which addresses rioting and carries up to two years’ imprisonment or a fine. One mother, Siti Rohani Yusof, claimed her son was hit with a broomstick and threatened with a penknife, and she transferred him out of the school due to the slow response.
