Flash floods swamp Kuala Lumpur neighborhoods, fire crews rescue three motorists
Four flash-flood incidents struck Kuala Lumpur today, prompting fire-rescue teams to save three people trapped in vehicles.
Today, Kuala Lumpur experienced four separate flash-flood events affecting areas such as Ampang, Taman U-Thant and Jalan Ampang. The city's Fire and Rescue Department's operations centre logged several emergency calls and sent crews from the Keramat, Jalan Tun Razak and Titiwangsa fire stations to the hotspots. In Ampang, a vehicle stuck in nearly one metre of water near Tuscany Home Furnitures was rescued, and in Taman U-Thant a BMW stranded in floodwater saw two occupants rescued. Authorities also responded to a residential home threatened by possible electrocution and to an unoccupied vehicle flooded near Menara Safuan.
