Flatbush pedestrian killed by MTA bus in late-night hit-and-run

A 58-year-old man was fatally struck by an MTA bus in Flatbush on Saturday night after stepping off a curb, and the driver left the scene.

Police say the victim was hit by the rear wheels of a B44 bus near Clarendon Road and Nostrand Avenue around 8:15 p.m. The 43-year-old driver, unaware of the collision, continued driving. Emergency crews transported the man to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, but he died. A neighbor described him as a well-known, helpful figure in the community. The NYPD has not released his name pending family notification.
