Flavio Bolsonaro edges ahead of Lula in latest runoff poll

A recent Quaest poll puts Senator Flavio Bolsonaro at 46% and President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva at 44% ahead of Brazil's Oct. 25 runoff.

The survey, conducted between Oct. 10 and 13 with 2,154 respondents, shows Bolsonaro narrowly leading Lula. The poll’s margin of error is ±2 points, making the race technically a tie. Nine percent of those surveyed said they would cast a blank or null vote, while 1% remain undecided. This is the first Quaest poll released after the first-round results, where the younger Bolsonaro had unexpectedly outperformed Lula.

Why it matters

The poll indicates a tightly contested runoff that could shape Brazil's political direction.
