Flavio Bolsonaro launches green-yellow rallies to counter surge of pro-Lula street protests

Facing a wave of pro-Lula demonstrations, Flavio Bolsonaro’s team has organized a series of green-yellow rallies across Brazil ahead of the presidential runoff.

In reaction to a growing series of pro-Lula street actions, Flavio Bolsonaro’s campaign has set up green-yellow demonstrations from Thursday until the day before the runoff election. The first left-wing rallies were organized by public-university students and have been amplified by artists and digital influencers in major cities, with Lula himself appearing at a São Paulo event to call on non-voters to participate. Deputy Gustavo Gayer of the PL launched a WhatsApp channel called “Tropa do Flávio” to alert supporters that the campaign faces a “real risk” from the left’s mobilization, citing the impact on internal polling.

Meanwhile, the nation’s top-voted deputy, Nikolas Ferreiras, is leading a tour of key regions—including Minas Gerais, the Northeast strongholds of the PT, and other urban centers—promoting a “Bloco do 22” of 13 rallies and urging participants to display Brazil’s green and yellow colors. The coordinated effort aims to prevent complacency after Bolsonaro’s first-round lead and to rally the PL base for the final vote.

Why it matters

The rallies highlight escalating political polarization as Brazil heads into a decisive presidential runoff.
