Flink alerts users and staff to fraud scams after data breach
Flink confirmed a cyber intrusion that exposed customer and employee contact details, and warned recipients not to pay any money demanded.
Flink disclosed that an unauthorized party breached one of its internal databases, obtaining personal data of both customers and employees, including names, delivery addresses, email addresses and telephone numbers. Sensitive information like passwords, credit-card details or bank accounts remained untouched. Following the breach, fraudsters began reaching out directly to the exposed individuals, requesting money.
The company strongly advises against responding or making any payments. Immediately after learning of the incident, Flink shut down the affected access point, implemented additional security controls and engaged external IT-forensics and cybersecurity specialists to conduct a thorough investigation. No further unauthorized access has been detected so far.
