Flipkart expands Ekart network and storage ahead of Big Billion Days sale
Flipkart’s logistics arm Ekart has added 14 million cubic feet of warehousing and over 900 new delivery hubs to boost same-day shipping for the upcoming festive sales.
Ahead of the October Big Billion Days sale, Flipkart’s logistics subsidiary Ekart has expanded its supply-chain infrastructure significantly. The firm added 14 million cubic feet of warehousing space nationwide, lifting its storage capacity by half and enhancing peak processing ability by over 30 percent through technology and automation upgrades. More than 900 new delivery hubs were launched, increasing Ekart’s network to over 8,200 facilities that include fulfilment centres, sortation hubs and last-mile operations, plus roughly 1,200 Flipkart Minutes micro-fulfilment centres across 150 cities.
To support micro, small and medium enterprises, 2.5 crore units from these sellers have been pre-positioned, and 70 extra pick-up stations were opened in key seller locations. The rollout extends service to new PIN codes, reaching remote regions such as Leh, Kargil, interior Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and parts of the Northeast, allowing customers there to benefit from same-day and next-day delivery during the festive period.
Why it matters
The expansion improves delivery speed and reach for millions of Indian shoppers, especially in remote areas, during the country's biggest online sale.
