Flood damage forces Ridgewood high school to cancel home football and soccer games

After heavy flooding deposited debris and hardened silt on the fields, Ridgewood High School's turf did not meet required safety standards for shock absorption. Superintendent Mark Schwarz confirmed that both the football and soccer fields are unusable for the remainder of the fall season, eliminating all home games. The repair bill is projected to surpass one million dollars, and while neighboring schools have volunteered their facilities, coordinating schedules presents challenges.

Players such as senior nose guard Thomas Bryan and sophomore Nico Schilt voiced frustration at losing the iconic Friday-night atmosphere. Village Manager Keith Kazmark pledged continued collaboration with school officials to support the affected athletes. The district is now seeking alternatives to ensure the teams can still compete away from home.
