Florida father fatally stabs 17-year-old twins before taking his own life

Police say 63-year-old Ivan Montiel Roa stabbed his teenage twins, Carlo and Melanie, in their Orlando apartment and then died by suicide.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office reported that 63-year-old Ivan Montiel Roa stabbed his 17-year-old twins, Carlo and Melanie Montiel Infantino, inside their Orlando apartment and then committed suicide. A neighbor’s 911 call for a wellness check led police to the scene, where the teens’ bloodied bodies were found in the living room and Montiel Roa in the master bedroom. Detectives say the father murdered his children before taking his own life, though the exact timing remains unclear.

The family, originally from Venezuela, had already lost the twins’ mother in June. Rep. Rita Harris, a nearby resident, mourned the loss and highlighted the burden on first responders. Public records show Montiel Roa worked as a realtor and previously owned a construction firm that was dissolved on September 25, and his social media included conspiracy-themed posts.

Why it matters
