Florida GOP House hopeful linked to 2017 Charlottesville white-nationalist rally

A recent probe revealed that Marshall Rawson, the Republican nominee for Florida’s House District 10, attended the 2017 “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, alongside members of the white-nationalist League of the South. Archived footage shows Rawson and his wife arriving at the event, with Rawson bearing the League’s flag and marching beside neo-Nazi James Alex Fields Jr., who later killed counter-protester Heather Heyer.
Rawson has not disavowed the League, nor apologized for his involvement, and his public record includes statements endorsing the death penalty for gay people in Uganda and calls to revive lynchings. Researchers linked a pseudonymous X account, “RockOfDixie,” to Rawson, which posted extremist content from 2017-2020. Financial records indicate he has taken more than $15,000 from donors connected to the League, neo-Nazi circles, and a former Klan lawyer.
Despite the controversy, Rawson secured the Republican primary by just over 2,000 votes and is expected to win the general election in the heavily conservative district. The case highlights the growing acceptance of fringe white-nationalist ideas within mainstream Republican politics.
