Florida GOP House hopeful trims Trump references after primary win

Mike Beltran, a former Florida state representative, won the Republican primary for the Tampa-area 14th Congressional District and subsequently stripped his campaign website of most references to Donald Trump and the Working Families Tax Cut, a bill tied to Trump’s agenda. Prior to the primary, Beltran highlighted his long-standing, conviction-driven support for Trump and criticized Governor Ron DeSantis for endorsing the president.

The website now only retains a statement that Beltran “stands 100% with President Trump on immigration” and an image of the two together, with no new posts about Trump since the primary. A spokesperson insisted the revisions are standard post-primary updates and reaffirmed Beltran’s support for the tax cut and criticism of incumbent Kathy Castor. Beltran is not alone; Kentucky GOP nominee Ralph Alvarado also removed Trump mentions after his primary victory, though most Republican candidates continue to lean heavily on Trump’s base. The shift reflects a tactical recalibration as candidates move toward the general election in a district reshaped to favor Republicans.
