Hurricane Isaias struck Florida over the weekend, and human resources worker Jenn Biggs Williams, 57, was killed when a massive tree fell through her home’s roof. After stepping outside to assess damage, she and her husband Joey re-entered the house, only for the tree to smash into the living room, pinning them both. Joey escaped by squeezing out, but Jenn was crushed and died on the spot before responders could cut the debris.
He recounted the horror, noting that her death was immediate and that she was widely loved by coworkers and friends. Officials confirmed she was the first known Isaias fatality, with a second death later recorded in Birmingham, Alabama. The Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency director verified the second victim’s connection to the storm.
