Florida woman accused of drugging dating-app suitors faces attempted murder charge

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office has charged Samantha Adams, 39, with second-degree attempted murder after she allegedly spiked a 69-year-old man’s whiskey with benzodiazepines during a visit to his Haines City home. The victim, who met Adams through a dating app under the name “Nala,” says he has experienced similar unexplained intoxication on at least three earlier occasions at her Orange County residence. Following an argument over a vehicle he had bought for her, Adams reportedly demanded $1,000 to continue their encounter, which the man refused.

He later passed out and was treated for a benzodiazepine overdose, despite not being prescribed such medication. A search of Adams’ belongings uncovered multiple prescription drugs, including hydrocodone, oxycodone, sertraline, and alprazolam. Sheriff Grady Judd warned that Adams, dubbed the “Black Widow,” may have other victims. She was taken into custody on Aug. 27 at a Davenport shopping center.
