Flu vaccine shipments to Sweden delayed, affecting rollout for seniors
Region Skåne says late deliveries of influenza vaccine will limit supplies for people aged 80 and over in the first two weeks, with broader availability expected later in November.
The health authority in Skåne reports that postponed shipments to Sweden and much of Europe have reduced the stock of flu shots. Only those 80 and older will receive vaccines during the initial fortnight, and the 75-plus group may start soon after. Supply levels should improve in the second half of November, but frontline medical staff are unlikely to be vaccinated until December or January.
Why it matters
Delayed flu shots could leave vulnerable seniors and healthcare workers unprotected during the peak season.
