Flu vaccine shipments to the Czech Republic delayed, experts say vaccination still viable
Supply of some 2026/2027 flu vaccines to the Czech Republic will be postponed until September or November, but health officials say the recommended vaccination window remains unchanged.
The 2026/2027 influenza season faces delayed vaccine deliveries in the Czech Republic, with Sanofi’s high-dose Efluelda slated for arrival in early September and the conventional Vaxigrip not expected until the start of November. The Czech Vaccinology Society attributes the postponements to a combination of a new vaccine composition, later availability of essential viral strains, and routine regulatory approvals. Distributors Distribuce CZ and Avenier confirmed the staggered supply schedule.
While other European countries are likely to experience similar timing issues, the Society reassures that the core vaccination period of October and November is still appropriate, and that administering shots in December remains beneficial. Recent seasons have even seen flu activity beginning before Christmas, underscoring the flexibility of the vaccination timeline.
