Food Safety Authority of Ireland recalls four ready-meal products over listeria risk

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has announced a recall of four ready-meal varieties after tests indicated possible presence of listeria monocytogenes. The products affected are Fit Foods Chicken & Chorizo with Baby Potatoes (400 g), Fit Foods Chicken & Stuffing with Potatoes and Gravy (400 g), Chef Select High Protein Jamaican Jerk Chicken (400 g) and Fresh Choice Kitchen Roast Chicken Dinner (600 g). Detailed use-by dates and batch codes have been published so retailers can identify the specific items.

The agency has ordered retailers to pull the batches from sale and post recall notices at points of sale, while wholesalers must contact their customers to retrieve the stock. Listeria can cause flu-like or gastrointestinal symptoms, with higher risk for pregnant women, infants, the elderly and immunocompromised individuals. The FSAI urges anyone who may have purchased the recalled meals to discard them and not consume them.
