Food Standards Agency orders recall of chocolate products over salmonella risk

The Food Standards Agency has issued a formal ‘do not eat’ alert after salmonella bacteria were found in certain chocolate products sold by World of Sweets. The recall targets Alyan Dubai Style Chocolate Truffles (product code 319456, 120 g packs) and Alyan Dubai Style Crunchy Knafeh and Pistachio Milk Chocolate (product code 318591, 100 g packs), with no exemption for any best-before date. Consumers are instructed to avoid consuming the items and to return them to the retailer for a full refund.

The agency also warned that typical salmonella symptoms—fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps—should keep affected individuals away from work, school or nurseries for at least 48 hours after recovery to prevent spread. Stores selling the products will display recall notices at the point of sale. The FSA’s recall notice serves to inform both the public and local authorities of the health risk and the required actions.
