Ford adds hands-free highway towing to 2027 F-150 with BlueCruise

Ford announced that the 2027 F-150 will include a new BlueCruise towing mode, allowing hands-free operation on more than 130,000 miles of designated divided highways while pulling a trailer. Drivers must keep their eyes on the road and stay prepared to take control, but can release the steering wheel and pedals during travel. The feature, available on all BlueCruise-equipped trims starting with the XLT, was validated through thousands of miles of testing and a dynamic driving simulator covering about 800 trailer setups.

Limitations will apply according to trailer type, weight, loading and configuration. Existing BlueCruise subscribers will not face extra charges for the upgrade. The rollout follows similar moves by General Motors and contrasts with Tesla’s policy of disabling FSD when a trailer is detected. Ford also introduced lower-priced Raptor Low and Tremor Low variants and a new Carhartt-styled package for the F-150.
