Ford issues recall for nearly 149,000 Mustang models over power loss risk

Ford Motor Company announced a recall of 148,663 Mustang vehicles after identifying a problem in the electrical wiring that could lead to loss of drive power or failure of systems such as the windshield washer, headlights, air conditioning, or engine cooling fan. The affected cars were produced between Sept. 7, 2022 and June 9, 2026 and span model years 2024 to 2026. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration expects roughly 1% of these Mustangs to show the issue.

Owners will be mailed letters from Aug. 31 to Sept. 4, with additional notices once a repair solution is ready, anticipated around March 2027. The remedy requires dealers to replace the wiring harness ground terminals in the engine compartment free of charge. The recall is cataloged under NHTSA number 26V547 and Ford’s internal number 26C40.
