Ford pauses F-150 production at Dearborn plant due to supply disruption
Ford stopped assembly of the F-150 at its Dearborn Truck Plant for almost a week after a supply issue forced all crews off the line.
Ford halted F-150 manufacturing at its Dearborn Truck Plant for nearly a week, shutting down the line from Thursday through Tuesday, September 29, because of a supply-chain problem. The issue, whose specific supplier was not identified, also slowed production at the Kansas City Assembly Plant, prompting the Kentucky Truck Plant to boost its output as compensation. This interruption comes as Ford strives to recover from a fire at an aluminum supplier that crippled production in late 2025 and from a year-over-year sales decline of about ten percent, with F-Series sales down eleven percent.
The company is also dealing with a recall of recent-model F-150s for fuel-tank defects, which it says affect roughly one percent of the affected trucks. Additionally, Ford announced a $1 billion paint-shop investment at the Kentucky plant amid a dispute with the U.S. Transportation Secretary over alleged Chinese ties.
