A source claiming to be an unnamed Ford dealer told Automotive News that the automaker is working on an entry-level crossover with a target price of about $25,000. The early prototype looks similar to a first-generation Escape and will be produced at Ford's Hermosillo facility in Mexico beginning in 2029, sharing the line with the Bronco Sport and Maverick. The crossover is expected to be offered with hybrid and non-electrified powertrain options.
The leak follows other reports of affordable Ford models, including the sub-$30,000 Fathom electric truck and a four-door Mustang priced below $40,000. Automotive News also indicated that the universal EV platform for the Fathom will underpin four additional electric Ford vehicles. These developments hint at Ford's response to growing concerns about vehicle affordability.
