Ford unveils unnamed Hypercar during first test at Paul Ricard

Ford displayed its new, still-unnamed Hypercar on the Paul Ricard track, with drivers Matt Campbell and Logan Sargeant beginning initial testing.

Ford took its unnamed Hypercar to the Paul Ricard circuit in Provence, France, for an unofficial debut, where drivers Matt Campbell and Logan Sargeant began shakedown runs. The test aims to fine-tune both performance and reliability ahead of a bid for overall victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a triumph the brand last secured in 1969 with a privately entered GT40. After a brief, unsuccessful return in 1982 with the C100 and a class win in the GTE-Pro category in 2016, Ford is now targeting the premier Hypercar class, which has surged in popularity within the World Endurance Championship.

The Hypercar category permits two design routes: a fully bespoke LMH build, used by Ferrari, Peugeot and Toyota, or a hybrid-free approach like Aston Martin’s Valkyrie. Ford’s new effort follows the LMH regulations, though details of its hybrid system remain undisclosed.

Why it matters

Ford’s Hypercar test signals a renewed challenge for the prestigious Le Mans overall win.
