Foreign Minister Anita Orbán announces sharp reduction in diplomatic travel spending
Anita Orbán said the Foreign Ministry has slashed the cost of official trips, achieving sizable savings without cutting any programmes.
In a social-media post, Foreign Minister Anita Orbán reported the results of a comprehensive audit of the ministry's travel and central administration outlays. The review found that diplomatic programmes continue unchanged, but overall spending has been reduced through professional-level rationalisation, including the elimination of bespoke air-transport for short-term missions and the termination or adjustment of multiple contracts.
Orbán emphasized that these measures have produced substantial budgetary savings while preserving the ministry's core activities. She also compared one outlet travel costs with those incurred under former minister Péter Szijjártó, noting that each trip now costs a fraction of the previous amount.
