Foreign renters now make up over half of rental searches in Calpe and Moraira

Data from Idealista shows that in the first quarter of 2026, foreign renters dominated the rental market in Calpe (53%) and Moraira (52%), outnumbering Spanish seekers. This places the two towns among a handful of Spanish destinations where overseas demand surpasses local interest, second only to Andratx in Mallorca, which reached 60%. The influx comes from a mix of European nationals, with Dutch, British, Swiss and Austrian renters leading the searches.

The broader Costa Blanca region also reflects strong international appeal, as Alicante province logged 26% foreign rental activity, matching the Balearic Islands. Other coastal areas such as the Costa del Sol and the Canary Islands are experiencing similar patterns, underscoring Spain’s continued draw for long-term European residents.
