Foreign tourists boost Greek arrivals and overnight stays in July 2026
July 2026 saw a modest rise in hotel, campsite and short-stay bookings in Greece, driven largely by visitors from abroad.
According to provisional ELSTAT figures, Greece recorded 6,608,128 arrivals and 31,701,467 overnight stays in July 2026, marking increases of 158,486 arrivals and 624,020 nights over the same month a year earlier. Foreign tourists contributed around 5.30 million arrivals and 27.78 million overnight stays, representing roughly 80.3% of arrivals and 87.6% of nights. Domestic travellers accounted for 1.30 million arrivals and 3.92 million nights.
Foreign guests stayed an average of 5.2 days across all accommodation types, versus 3.0 days for Greek visitors, with the gap widening in hotels and short-stay rentals. The data underline Greece’s reliance on international demand for its tourism sector.
