Foreign traveler hit with exorbitant taxi charge after Gardermoen arrival

An overseas visitor to Oslo was approached by a taxi driver while waiting at the official booking kiosks at Gardermoen airport. After completing the trip to Oslo city centre, she found her payment card debited for a sum far above normal rates. Avinor's communications adviser expressed sympathy and highlighted the airport operator's long-standing efforts to curb rogue taxi services.
The matter was promptly reported to the police, yet the Øst police district dismissed the case in August, citing insufficient resources. Earlier this summer, another traveler on a comparable route experienced a similarly inflated fare from the same company, Sentrum Taxi, which has drawn criticism for high prices and low customer ratings. Industry representatives stress the importance of securing a fixed price or using official apps to avoid such scams.
