Form Six students to receive RM2,500 living allowance starting next year
Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek announced a RM2,500 allowance for Form Six students, to be paid from the first semester of the next academic year.
During a programme in Nibong Tebal, Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek confirmed that Form Six students will receive a total living allowance of RM2,500 beginning with the first semester of the next academic year. The funding, introduced in Budget 2027, will be released once the registration process for all Form Six candidates is finalized. Payments will be made in three stages, each roughly RM800, covering the three semesters of the STPM programme.
The initiative reflects the government's commitment to assist students financially and to raise the standard of the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia. Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim previously announced the allowance when presenting the budget, noting it matches the support given to matriculation students. The scheme is projected to reach around 90,000 Form Six learners across the country.
