Former A's outfielder reveals bat boy posed as him to obtain sex
Eric Byrnes recounted on his podcast that a former Oakland A's bat boy pretended to be him, luring two women into his car and receiving sexual favors.
On his "Deuces Wild" podcast, ex-Oakland A's outfielder Eric Byrnes narrated an incident in which a former bat boy, sporting an A's hat, introduced himself as Byrnes to two women on a freeway. The women, thinking they were with the former player, followed his directions and one entered his car, where the bat boy allegedly received sexual favors. After the encounter, the bat boy reported the episode to equipment manager Steve Vucinich, who relayed it to Byrnes, leading the former outfielder to admonish the impostor.
The anecdote emerged while Daejon Love faces allegations of defrauding at least 26 women of $1.3 million by posing as a 49ers wide receiver. Former 49ers star Terrell Owens defended Love, while former Eagles center Jason Kelce called the behavior "crazy" and warned women to be more cautious.
Why it matters
The tale highlights how sports figures can be exploited in sexual deception schemes, raising concerns about athlete impersonation and victim vulnerability.
