Former after-school animator sentenced to five years for sexual abuse of toddlers

A former after-school program leader was sentenced to five years in prison, with three years suspended, for sexually assaulting three children aged three and four in Vendée.

A 48-year-old former after-school animator was convicted by the tribunal correctionnel of La Roche-sur-Yon for sexually assaulting three children, aged three and four, during 2022-2023 in Vendée. He received a five-year prison term, with three years suspended, and will be permanently barred from any activity that brings him into contact with minors. Additionally, a six-year socio-judicial monitoring period was imposed.

The victims’ families lodged complaints in June 2023 after the children disclosed the abuse. During the trial, the defense counsel, Me Nathanaël Ormillien, requested acquittal, while the prosecution demanded the five-year sentence.
