Former Agder police officer sentenced to over two years for multiple corruption offences

A former police officer from Agder, aged 40, received a prison term of two years and four months after being found guilty of several serious offences, including aggravated corruption, attempted corruption, attempted extortion, negligent money-laundering and abuse of public authority. The court’s decision mirrors the prosecutor’s assessment, emphasizing the same aggravating circumstances. The investigation started after a tip in October 2025 while the man was employed in the immigration-control and investigation division of the Agder police district.

He later reported the wrongdoing to his superior, admitted his actions, and resigned from the force. His defence counsel contends the sentence is excessive, arguing that the court gave insufficient consideration to his confession and assistance in uncovering other matters, and is reviewing the possibility of an appeal. In addition to the prison term, the court barred him from holding any future police position. The case has raised concerns among vulnerable women who feel trust in law enforcement has been further eroded.
