Former AGT contestant Deshundre Vinson charged with murder in nephew's drowning

Deshundre “Dre” Vinson, a 22-year-old former contestant on “America’s Got Talent” and member of the R&B group CitiLimitz, was arrested in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on September 2. He has been charged with one count of first-degree murder and three counts of aggravated child abuse in connection with the drowning of his 4-year-old nephew on August 16. According to police, Vinson was responsible for babysitting the boy, his six-year-old brother, and other children, and he let them walk roughly 0.2 miles to an apartment complex pool without adult supervision.

Surveillance footage showed the child slipping from a handhold and sinking into deeper water, where he remained for about nine minutes before being rescued and taken to a hospital, where he died after five days in the PICU. Detectives found no adult at the pool during the incident, and messages between Vinson and the child’s mother confirmed the lack of supervision. Vinson’s bond is set at $750,000, and he is due back in court on September 8.
