Former Army Medic Joins NASA as Civil Service Logistics Specialist

Jeret Howard, who first served as a United States Army combat medic in Iraq at age 17, has been employed for over a decade and a half as a contractor at NASA’s Stennis Space Center, the agency’s largest rocket propulsion test site. Under a NASA workforce directive aimed at converting contractors to civil service, he is now a logistics management specialist responsible for acquiring essential hardware for propulsion tests.

His technical background enables him to anticipate the engineering team’s needs and ensure efficient use of taxpayer funds. Howard works alongside new technicians and supports testing activities that include Blue Origin’s projects at Stennis. He views the civil-service role as a point of pride and hopes to retire from NASA after a career dedicated to public service.
