Former Auburn Football Staffer Charged with Stealing Trade Secrets
David Rudolph Jenrath, 24, surrendered to authorities and now faces felony charges for allegedly taking confidential Auburn football information and passing it to rival programs.
A former employee of Auburn’s football program, 24-year-old David Rudolph Jenrath, turned himself in and was charged with theft of trade secrets and computer tampering. Police say a business reported that confidential information was taken from its operations and delivered to a rival, which subsequently handed the data back, though the specific schools involved remain unidentified. The incident is alleged to have taken place on July 19 at the Auburn Athletics Complex.
Jenrath’s role at Auburn, listed on a now-deleted LinkedIn profile, was player-personnel scouting assistant, where he evaluated high-school and transfer-portal prospects, compiled scouting reports, assisted with opponent analysis, and managed recruiting databases. He also pursued studies in applied artificial intelligence and sports analytics at the University of Tennessee. He is being held on a $15,000 bond at the Lee County Jail in Auburn, Alabama.
