Former bodyguard and lover of Kyrsten Sinema admits destroying $200,000 of her property

Matthew Ammel, who once served as Kyrsten Sinema’s bodyguard and later became her lover, said he vandalized her Cave Creek home, causing over $200,000 in damage.

Matthew Ammel, a former bodyguard who entered a romantic relationship with Kyrsten Sinema, told the Arizona Daily Star that he deliberately damaged artworks, high-value alcohol bottles and a mirror in her Cave Creek home, resulting in more than $200,000 in losses. He said his actions were driven by frustration with the political system and Sinema’s connections to companies benefiting from wars, citing a request for her to post a video of soldiers in Iraq.

Ammel described dumping 22 paintings into a pool and smashing items while intoxicated, but avoided destroying gifted pieces. The vandalism prompted Sinema to report the crime, and Ammel was later admitted to an urgent psychiatric center before being arrested. He also referenced a recent Washington, D.C. event he viewed as celebrating the Gaza conflict, linking it to Sinema’s ties with Palantir donors.
