Former Bundespolizei officer describes violent pushbacks and racism during Frontex deployments
Jonas Müller, a Bundespolizei officer who served with Frontex, says he witnessed armed aggression against refugees and widespread racist attitudes among colleagues.
According to Müller, Frontex regularly borrows personnel from EU states, including German police, to support local border forces. During his deployments he saw colleagues draw masks and machine guns on groups of migrants, causing distress among families. After returning, he spent time in a refugee camp, assisting NGOs that provided clothing, food and even entertainment for children.
He reports that many of his fellow officers displayed racist jokes, ignored a medical emergency involving a Black man, and dismissed concerns about pushbacks as local matters. Müller says he raised objections within the Bundespolizei but faced indifference and career setbacks. The agency declined to comment on specific incidents, stating that all actions follow legal guidelines regardless of ethnicity or origin.
