Former Buycar2u director faces 71 fraud charges over alleged used-car deals

Kee Cher Kian, 34, appeared before Judges Azrul Darus, Norma Ismail and Muhammad Ilmami Ahmad, asserting his innocence to a total of 71 fraud allegations. The first set of 26 charges accuses him, as Buycar2u’s director, of deceiving Wong Yoong Jed, a director of Viso Capital Sdn Bhd and Lio Capital Sdn Bhd, by claiming the purchase of multiple high-end cars such as Toyota Alphard, Lexus RX200 and Mercedes-Benz C200, prompting Wong to remit RM1.69 million into Buycar2u’s bank account.

A further 30 charges involve RM1.98 million and 15 charges involve RM1.02 million transferred through branches at Menara KL Sentral and Jalan Perak from early July to early August 2022. Prosecutors Siti Suriatey Mohamed Yusoff and Eugenie Meredith Gilbert pursued the case under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which allows up to ten years’ imprisonment and fines. Defence lawyer J Matthews secured a bail package of RM215,000 with a guarantor, and the next hearing is set for 16 October.
