Former California judge faces federal indictment for sexual assaults and obstruction
Former Fresno County Superior Court judge Adolfo Corona was federally indicted for assaulting two court employees and lying to investigators.
A federal grand jury in the Eastern District of California indicted former Fresno County Superior Court judge Adolfo Corona on charges of sexual assault and obstruction of justice. Prosecutors claim Corona forced a 33-year-old court employee into a stairwell on March 14, 2024, and assaulted a 43-year-old employee in his chambers on Dec. 5, 2023, after which the latter was found unconscious. He allegedly told FBI agents he left the woman alone to retrieve a motorcycle and tried to persuade a dealership employee to alter records to support that story.
The indictment, filed on Aug. 21, 2025, follows an earlier state indictment for similar conduct. No plea agreement has been offered, and a trial-confirmation hearing is set for July 26, 2027, with a jury trial slated for August. If convicted, Corona faces up to 40 years for the assault and up to 20 years for each obstruction count.
