Former Chartreux school director Jean-Bernard Plessy placed in custody on sexual abuse charges
Jean-Bernard Plessy, 63, former head of the Institution des Chartreux in Lyon, was detained as part of a preliminary investigation for rape and sexual assault on a vulnerable minor.
Authorities in Lyon placed Jean-Bernard Plessy, the former director of the Institution des Chartreux, in police custody while investigating allegations of rape, sexual assault on a vulnerable person, and intimidation. Prosecutors say Plessy exploited his position to engage in a sexual relationship with a student at the school, which operates under the Saint-Irénée society. The young woman initially sought help from SOS-Amitié and Nightline, then contacted the diocese’s listening cell established after the Preynat scandal.
Concerned teachers learned of the inappropriate relationship and alerted both the diocesan authorities and the juvenile brigade. Plessy's lawyer has not responded to inquiries.
